Thursday Teas

 

Please note there will be no Thursday Teas on the following dates in August 8th,15th, and 22nd.

Teas will resume and continue weekly from the 29th.

 

Church Gift Day

 

Thanks to very generous donations a total of £545 (plus some Gift Aid) was raised through our
Church Gift Day.
This money will be put towards the cost of repair to the stairwells.

 

Action for Children Boxes


I would like to empty the home collecting boxes as soon as possible.
I would appreciate you bringing your boxes to church any Sunday during August.

Accord Choir Concert

 

There will be a concert by the Accord Choir in the church on 17th August at 2.30pm. Cream teas will be served during the interval. Tickets cost £10, please see Judy Hall for details.

 

The Vine is seeking new staff

 

Assistant Manager 

The Vine is a Christian book shop located in the heart of Hinckley. It has been established for more than 20 years and plays an important role in the faith lives of practising Christians in the town and surrounding areas.

 

A new role has been created for an Assistant Manager (reporting to the Manager) to take responsibility for The Vine’s popular coffee shop. It is a part time position (3 days, 18 hours per week) that includes working alternate Saturdays.

   

We are seeking someone to take on the overall management of the coffee shop and supervise a small group of committed volunteers who serve customers. Experience of working in a catering environment and supervising volunteers is preferred. It is essential the post holder is a car driver and a practising Christian. 

 

The role comes with an annual salary of £10,707.00 and an entitlement to 5.6 weeks of annual holiday.

INTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD IN AUGUST 2024 

 

Saturday Assistant

The role is to assist in our busy coffee shop each Saturday 9am – 2pm. The main duties would be taking customer orders, making drinks, serving tables, clearing tables, taking payments, washing up and cleaning.  This would suit someone aged 16 plus.  Good people skills are essential as is a reasonable level of numeracy skills.  Good presentation and attention to detail are important.  Pay will be at the minimum wage.  Lunch is provided.

 

Hinckley Area Foodbank

Our Food Bank collection point is outside 18 Mill Close if anyone wishes to make a donation. Other donation points exist including The Vine Christian Book shop. Currently HAFB are short of large packets of biscuits (400+grams), small tins of potatoes, microwave rice and cereal (13- 16 portion size - often it states this information on the side of the packet).

 

Open Gardens (Fundraising for Earl Shilton Methodist Church)

Throughout July, come and join us for a relaxed morning or afternoon and enjoy our small open gardens, with a drink and a slice of cake.

A very new way of doing church, one for the whole family! Sometimes in church, sometimes outside, sometimes somewhere different! Lots of different activities, songs, stories, and prayers! Enjoy a meal, crafts and light worship.

ROOTS

Fourth Sunday of the month.

 

4:00pm to 5:00pm.

 

A relaxed celebration event with modern contemporary worship music, icebreakers, lively speakers with a short Christian message.

 

Includes games, snacks and drinks.

 

All ages welcome!

 

 

Churches Together

The church holds combined events with All Saints Church, Sapcote.

 

We have united services once a quarter and also join together for an Easter Eggstravaganza and a light parade at Halloween.

 

Occasional Events

We also hold "one off" events at the church:

  • Quiz Night with fish and chips
  • Crafts fairs
  • A variet of concerts (sometimes with cream tea included)
  • Children's Film Club (usually during holiday times

Spring Harvest 

Each year Sapcote Methodist Church organises a visit to this large inter-denominational Christian Conference.

 

Anyone is welcome to join! Spring Harvest aims to "equip the Church for action through a range of events, conferences, books and resources.

 

The tone is generally evangelical with modern worship muisc, workshops and Bible Study Groups".

 

 

Lent Course

Each year at Sapcote Methodist Church we hold a weekly evening course during lent (February and March), studying one of the popular lent course study materials.

Summer Holiday Club 

We hold an annual Summer holiday club for Primary School age children following the Scripture Union resources but often with our own Sapcote Methodist Church twist!

 

Lots of songs, crafts, messy crafts, games, sports, prayers and stories its a great experience! Check out our home page for further details of our next holiday club. (Details published in May)
