Mission Statement
A world transformed by God's love
A confident Church motivated to share God's love
A people celebrating being part of a worldwide family
We are called by Jesus to share the love of God with all who are around us.
Every Methodist is called to share in this mission, working together in cooperation, partnership and collaboration wherever they are.
In supporting social action (acts of charity) and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ - we are fulfilling God's mission that God will enable holiness, transforming lives, communities, nations and the world.

Thy Kingdom Come
Thy Kingdom Come (TKC) is a global, ecumenical prayer movement each May, between Pentecost and Ascension, when we are encouraged to pray for more people to come to know Jesus. Since it began 10 years ago, TKC has grown from a dream of possibility to a movement that unites more than one million Christians in prayer in nearly 90% of countries worldwide.
As part of TKC this year we are holding a Day of Prayer in church on May 21st when anyone can drop in to pray for our world, our country, ourselves and others who do not yet know Jesus. There will be prayer stations set up in church and reflective music playing to enable visitors to pray quietly on their own.
If you would like to volunteer to host during the day please sign up on the sheet on the notice board.
It is always good to have a welcoming smiling face to greet people as they enter our church.

Christian Aid Week
This year Christian Aid Week runs from Sunday 10th May to Saturday 16th. We will be having our annual Christian Aid Service on Sunday 17th. This year the charity is focusing on families in Nairobi, Kenya, who face the devastating reality of urban poverty and the daily struggle to feed their children. From the 10th May, Christian Aid envelopes will be placed on the chairs for your donations and can be placed in the weekly church collection. Please support the charity if you can.
Another aspect of Christian Aid work is campaigning. Debt is now at its highest in the history of Kenya. To keep up with repayments, the government is reducing spend on health and education and there is no support for farmers. Many debts squeezing Kenya are owed to private lenders who make vast profits whilst Kenyan people face crisis. These debts are governed by UK law. The UK could limit the power of private lenders by introducing new debt justice laws that could help tackle poverty.
Please sign the online petition at HYPERLINK "https://www.christianaid.org.uk/get-involved/campaigns/stand-with-kenya"https://www.christianaid.org.uk/get-involved/campaigns/stand-with-kenya to force the UK government to use its power to force private lenders to cancel or renegotiate the debts of low-income countries.
Thank you

Annual Church Meeting
The ACM will be held in the Church on Sunday 10th May at 1pm. This will be after the united service with All Saints Church. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available. You are welcome to bring your own lunch if you wish. Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting. It is a good opportunity to find out more about what goes on behind the scenes and gives you the chance to get more involved and have your say in how we go forward.
Those people who were at last years meeting and gave me an email address will receive papers in advance.
If anyone else would like to receive papers in advance of the meeting please either speak to me or email me at
Christine Grantham
Secretary to Church Council and ACM
Churches in Sapcote & Sharnford Fun Run
This years Fun Run is being held on Saturday 30th May at 10:00 a.m. The format will be the same as usual, starting outside the All Saints, Sapcote, Church Hall and the route will be from All Saints Church, around the Sapcote playing field, along Donkey Lane to Sharnford and back (about 4.5km). £5 per person entry fee, plus any donations accepted. In the past some people have also gained sponsorship, which is great. I can provide forms if needed.
There will be a card machine available for payment on the day.
We will be supporting :
Tear Fund
Cancer Research UK
Parkinson's UK
Last year (31st May 2025) we raised £810 and were able to give £270 to each of the three charities.
I'll be sending out more details about the event and requests to potential helpers over the next week or two. Hopefully it'll be an enjoyable event for everyone as usual - whether you run, walk, watch or help!
Kind regards,
Dave
Bible Month
In June we will be following this year’s Bible Month theme on Philippians during Sunday services. The Methodist Church has
produced a 30 Day Reading Guide on Philippians for private use at home. If you would like me to order you a free copy please let me know by May 3rd.
Thank you

News from the Vine
Here at The Vine we have a small Spring Sale with some items and books at reduced prices. We are also continuing our offering of £1 and £2 titles, ideal for those interested in trying Christian books but unsure where to start. Malcom Clarke's ‘Revelation: One Post at a Time’ - compiled by his family in his memory - is also now available, please ask staff for details. We are always happy to help and, as all our staff and volunteers work part-time, you can telephone 01455 612345 or email thevinehinckley@hotmail.co.uk with any queries or with details of items you wish to order. We have begun plans for celebrating our 25th anniversary in the Autumn so watch this space and do please keep us in your prayers as we seek to revisit and renew the years of love and devotion which have gone into providing this lovely Christian bookshop and cafe for our community. We hope to see you soon.
Kind regards,
